Welcome to a Wonderful Year of

Learning and Growth

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

My name is Rocio Soto-Carr. I am thrilled to introduce myself as Mrs. Carr, your child’s second-grade teacher for this upcoming school year. While this marks my first official year as a classroom teacher, my journey in education began years ago as an aide, substitute teacher, an active PTA leader and volunteer here at Florence Hill since 2016. Beyond my passion for teaching, I am a proud wife, and a mother of two middle school-aged children, so I understand firsthand the joys and challenges of nurturing young minds.

I received my education degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, where I took courses focused on social and emotional learning, technology, and diversity inclusion in the classroom. While pursuing my education, I also worked as a teacher’s assistant, and instructor at Florence Hill Elementary. This experience taught me how to manage larger class sizes, work with kids of various skill levels and backgrounds, and use technology to encourage learning and retention. In addition, I have studied and continue to stay current on the latest educational software, such as SMARTboard, Nearpod, and Google Classroom.

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to teach your second graders. It is truly a privilege and honor to be entrusted with the education and growth of your children. Teaching is not just a profession for me, but a passion, and I am committed to creating a nurturing and inspiring learning environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.

I am particularly looking forward to getting to know each of my students and building a strong connection with them. Each child brings a unique perspective and personality to our classroom, and I am eager to discover their interests, strengths, and areas where they thrive.

Open communication is essential to a successful school year, so please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or insights you may have. I look forward to partnering with you to ensure this year is filled with exciting learning experiences and meaningful growth for your child.

Thank you, once again, I am confident that with our collaboration, we can make this a memorable year!

Warmest regards,

Mrs. Carr

                                                                 Rocio Soto-Carr, June 20, 2024
